George Keeps It Funky, And Opens a New Concert Venue
Look out Chicago, He is Gonna Tear The Roof Off The New Sucker!
No need to tell faithful readers that George Clinton has been keeping the funk alive for many many decades. When the brand new Outset opens in Chicago, George will be there on two successive nights. On June 1 and 2, George brings his P-Funk crew for the first shows at this highly anticipated new live music venue located on the outskirts of Lincoln Yards in Chicago. The 750 person capacity, 10,000 square foot venue is ready to welcome George and Uncle Jam’s Army and make an impressive impact on Chicago’s rich live music scene.
This will be a fantastic place to see George up close. Outset has been designed to offer the production value of a large-scale venue coupled with the vibe of an intimate and up-close setting. As the venue owners describe it, “Outset provides the perfect atmosphere for established artists, while creating a new room for rising talent and, above all, will offer an unparalleled experience for Chicago music fans.”
Get there early y’all, as Dumpstaphunk will open both shows.
George will be heading your way, if the stars and The Mothership align; keep checking here for updated tour information.
Be sure you grab some of the new merch so you look your sparkling and most funky at these gigs, or anywhere else!
Speaking of looking ahead, on May 3rd Kamasi Washington will drop his new album, Fearless Movement. The album features collaborations with André 3000, Thundercat, and yo, wait for it….George Clinton. The name of the collab? The song is called “Get Lit.”
Need I say more?
David Libert, a founding member of the ’60s pop group The Happenings (“See You in September”) as well a tour manager for Alice Cooper and Prince, manager for George Clinton and Parliament/Funkadelic, Bootsy Collins, the Runaways, Living Colour and many more, died February 20, according to a post on his official Instagram page. He was 81. Can you imagine the stories he could tell if you could pull up a chair?
Another sad note on the music scene was the passing of Anthony “Baby Gap” Walker. He was seminal to the sound of The Gap Band, and worked with both Rick James and George.
On a happier note, George still has several hand signed museum quality photo art prints available. These gorgeous limited edition prints can be purchased individually or in a pair. Each is numbered. Each is signed by the esteemed photographer Neal Preston and George. George also drew his Atomic Dog on each print!
Father’s Day is coming soon, and you know a Dad who would love one of these…you may be that Dad, so drop a hint and/or order soon to avoid disappointment!

Finally, speaking of more funky collabs, I have two more to report.
Musician and rapper Erick Elliott, (also known as Erick the Architect) gained attention with the New York psycho hip-hop trio Flatbush Zombies. He went solo as he headed west. His new album, I’ve Never Been Here Before, covers the waterfront with flavors of hip-hop and psychedelic soul with a dash of house. But there he goes again…George is in full effect with this collaboration.
P-Funk fans will want to check out how Bootsy Collins has drafted Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa and the surprisingly funky Dave (Eurythmics) Stewart for a track called “The Influencers.” Collins of course added his legendary bass to plenty of Parliament and Funkadelic tracks back in the day…the 80s were a funky time for Bootsy and George.
i'm signed in now woof!!!
