If you have been a long-time subscriber (and member of Uncle Jam’s Army) you know 2023 has been another funky great year for George. Appearances across the globe, collabs, new art, new merch, new deals…nothing is off the table for the Godfather of Funk.
His current show of paintings during Art Basel Miami has met with acclaim. Fans will be pleased that Atomic Dog was not too far away in George’s exhibition, which he called Ruff. With your visit to Jupiter Gallery you will be amazed at the work. Be sure to say hello to the Gallery’s owner Gabriel Kilongo, he will be happy to show you around.
Here he is with George on opening night:
Many folks through the decades have tried to keep track of George’s contribution to music. The latest and perhaps most exhaustive effort comes from longtime P-Funk keyboardist Daniel Bedrosian. “Losing this history would be a travesty because it's the longest-running popular music group of all time and the largest discography of any one music collective,” asserts the author. Based on 30 hours of interviews with George and an amazing historical excavation, Bedrosian assays 10,000 songs credited to some 200 members of the extended P-Funk family. The sprawling book stretches 500 pages and brings us up to date, so far.
On a final note, it’s not too late to finish all your Christmas shopping. You can give (or get!) the ultimate gift of a hand signed museum quality print, numbered and in a limited edition.
